Where

The Hickories is a local organic farm in Ridgefield, CT that has been in the Brewster Family for 76 years. The farm provides vegetables, fruits, flowers, wool, meat, and other farm products for the community and surrounding area through their CSA and Farmstand as well as local markets and restaurants. The farm’s fruits and vegetables are certified organic under the Bay State Organic/ USDA National Organic Program, meaning they are free of synthetic pesticides and synthetic fertilizer. Our chickens, pigs, and sheep are free-range and are raised on the farm’s organic pastures.

It’s that time! 2020 CSA sign up has begun. Sign up to buy weekly vegetable and/or flower shares by the season.

CSA stands for community supported agriculture, which is a model of local agriculture where shareholders pledge to support our local farm. Once a week, you and your family come to the farm and pick up your share of the harvest. You’ll get a variety of whatever is being picked, the food changing as the seasons change.

The Hickories Summer CSA share

CSA members will also be offered free or reduced pricing on programming at the Hickories, farm tours, baby animal tours, and private access to our pick-your-own crops – strawberries, blueberries, cherry tomatoes, peas, beans, peaches…and more. We grow more than a 150 different varieties of fruits and vegetables at the Hickories, ranging from leafy heads of lettuce to crisp slicing cucumbers, from plump berries to aromatic basil, from juicy tomatoes to tasty garlic and much more. There is something for everyone each week.

Events

As a working organic farm, The Hickories is a unique and inspiring venue for celebrations all of kinds; our goal is to connect the celebration of each season’s bounty with your own personalized event. As part of a working farm raising certified organic fruits, vegetables, and flowers as well as pastured sheep, the farmers seek to connect people with the beauty of this quintessential New England agricultural and scenic landscape.

We host many kinds of events, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, milestone birthdays and anniversaries, family reunions, and company picnics and meetings. Check our farm calendar for guided tours, farm events and happenings at The Hickories!
