To capture sameness and establish predictability, producers rely on synthetic pesticides, chemical additives and sugar, which yield a product that tastes the same, bottle after bottle, year after year. Chemical pesticides and additives also make it possible to maximize yields and hide flaws, like bacteria and other unpleasant elements. Unfortunately, this processed wine is chemically-altered and completely unnatural, and you can taste it. Scout & Cellar’s founder, Sarah Shadonix, is an attorney-turned-sommelier (a Level 3 Sommelier) who has dedicated her life to taking the headaches out of great wine. We are proud to be a independent Scout & Cellar wine consultant serving everyone who wants to drink clean wine.
Most of us are familiar with the more-consistent-than-clockwork morning-after migraine that accompanies a night of wine consumption. It’s arguably the most prevalent drawback to drinking wine at all. Sarah is all-too familiar with this feeling.
Ironically, it started while she was studying to become a sommelier. What started as a glass of wine to accompany long nights of cramming would eventually materialize into an unbearable headache the next day. Sarah knew something was off. A single glass shouldn’t lead to pain of this magnitude. So she began doing some research of her own. She spoke with renowned naturopathic physicians, and she consulted with vintners. Eventually, she discovered the source of these headaches: the up-to 300 chemical additives imbued in almost all mass-produced wine. Yeah. 300. Crazy, right?
Once Sarah stumbled upon the truth about mass-produced wine, she promised to discover and deliver a cleaner, healthier, better option. “Chemicals belong in a swimming pool,” she’d say. “Wine should be as natural as possible.”

-Minimal residual sugar…..grapes are fermented dry
-Vegan. Only a few are not.
-Tested by independent labs to validate they are Clean-Crafted and free of any modifications, additions, or synthetic pesticides. These tests include verifying that none of the 250 FDA approved common additives are present and that the wine is free of 300 pesticides including glyphosate/Roundup.
