The Westport Electric Car Club is now the EV Club of CT whose statewide mission it is to evangelize for electric vehicles (EVs) and to promote EV-friendly public policy for the benefit of all. The club is urgently working to help transition Connecticut to a carbon-free economy via electrification of our transportation system through awareness, education and advocacy. The transportation sector is responsible for 40% of greenhouse gas emissions in the state and switching to electric vehicles is key to achieving rapid and deep reductions.
EV Club of CT Meetings & Events
The club provides a forum for the community of electric vehicle (EV) owners and advocates to exchange ideas through monthly club meetings, electric car events and rallies, participation in green public events, and supports anyone interested in purchasing an EV.
Recent club events have included providing testimony up in Hartford on EV-related legislation, participating in EV ride and drives to help educate the public, displaying EVs in a showcase at sustainability events while providing information to consumers, and hosting various social gatherings with club members and new EV owners.
Information & Analysis
Frustrated with the lack of accurate and publicly available information on EV ownership in the state, the EV Club of CT did their own analysis of DMV data that revealed 6,264 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHEV) registered in the state as of March 2018. The CT EV Interactive Dashboard is available for free public use.
Membership is free and open to EV owners and enthusiasts. Email the club to join the mailing list and learn about upcoming meetings and events.
