In Celebration of National Drive Electric Week, Sept. 26-Oct. 4, 2020, Sustainable Fairfield Task Force (SFTF) has organized a virtual Green Wheels Expo that includes a live EV Parade on Sunday, September 27 starting at 10 am at the Westport Train Station and an interview with Jay Leno on Sept. 26 (more below). The EV Club of CT has organized a 30-EV strong parade led by none other than Westport Chief of Police Foti Koskinas.
Chief Koskinas sparked a global movement after being the first police department in the country to put a full-outfitted Tesla Model 3 squad car into service with the support of Sustainable Westport. Congratulations to all on making it through the many challenges documented on the EV Club of CT's blog.
On September 27, head outside anywhere along the planned EV Parade route (below) beginning at 10 am (with a mask and socially distanced please or view from your parked car) to enjoy a succession of 30 EVs including a Chevy Bolt, Chevy Volt, Kia Soul, VW e-golf, Nissan Leaf, and Tesla Models S, 3, X and Y. Fingers crossed on a few more exciting additions including a Porsche Taycan.
We will not be beeping our horns to avoid confusion and noise pollution, but will wave back or our car flags will be waving at you!
Watch the Expo on YouTube or Zoom. Only the parade is live.
Click here to see the parade route in Google maps. The parade begins in the parking lot of Donut Crazy, 1 Ferry Lane, Westport and ends at Old Town Hall, 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield.
The hub of this year’s online Expo will be a dedicated website accessible via the Green Wheels Expo tab at SustainableFairfield.org, featuring EV webinars from Monday, Sept. 28 to Friday, Oct. 2, daily at 1 pm, plus a showcase of new EV models, informational articles and videos, and testimonials from EV owners.
Comedian and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno (now seen talking cars on CNBC’s Jay Leno’s Garage) will make a special guest appearance on the site, in an extended Zoom conversation about EVs with Fairfield-based automotive writer and SFTF member Jim Motavalli.
Sustainne is proud to be a sponsor of the Green Wheels Expo 2020!
